White Tux: A Popular Choice for the Groom

Today's men's formal fashion finds many gentleman straying from common, standard blacks, navies, and browns so that they can instead embrace bright visual impact of a white tux. This growing trend is particularly prevalent among grooms who are looking to wear something stylistically different - but no less elegant or appropriate - to their weddings. And as it so happens to turn out, the unity of a bride and groom's white wardrobe is just as stunning as the contrast found in the pairing of black with white.

Additionally, white tuxes bring a different variety of character to the occasion. Light, fun, and full of playful personality, they are very nicely suited to the groom who wants his wedding to be cast in a greater warmth with a more nostalgic, romantic aura filling the air.

Of course a groom must keep some things in mind when considering wearing a white tux to his wedding. Two of these things follow.

1. The color of the bride's dress.
It goes without saying that white is very well-paired with just about every other color in existence. There is one strong exception though, at least in the world of weddings: ivory. With neither unity nor contrast of color bringing forth their strengths, a white tuxedo and ivory dress will cancel each other out with an undesirable muting effect. So if the bride-to-be has her heart set on ivory, her husband-to-be should abandon the notion of wearing white.

That said, the white tuxedo will pair particularly well with blacks, reds, and other bold colors. These colors don't have to be dark, but light colors should be saturated enough to create a contrast with white.

2. The setting.
Too many men neglect to understand the importance of their surroundings when determining how to dress. White formal tuxedos are cheerful enough and might seem out of place in darker environments or rooms that are decorated with a style that is far more regal and refined than it is creative and carefree.

Don't let any of the above discourage you though; this is just one point of view and, as always, the most important thing for a man to consider when dressing to be wed is how confident he feels in his chosen outfit.
